Exemplar Care COVID-19 Testing

Passengers seeking a COVID-19 test before their departure or upon arriving at the Des Moines International Airport are eligible to get tested onsite by a trained professional.  Passengers who are ticketed or have reservations within 72 hours of the test time are eligible to be tested onsite at the Airport.  Book your appointment here.

Exemplar Care is open at the Des Moines International Airport from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

COVID-19 Test Options

Exemplar Care is offering multiple test options for passengers to consider.  Among these are PCR tests, rapid antigen tests, and antibody tests.

  • PCR: Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests are used as a diagnostic tool to show if a person has an active coronavirus infection. This test meets regulations for international and domestic (where required) travel. Test results are provided within 24 to 48 hours, along with the documentation required to travel.
  • Rapid Antigen: Antigen COVID-19 tests detect proteins from the virus. Antigen tests are very specific for the virus, but are not as sensitive as PCR. This means that a positive result is highly accurate, but a negative result does not completely rule out infection. This test is administered as a nasal swab and results are provided within minutes.
  • Antibody: Antibodies help indicate immune response, giving a person an indication if they been infected with SARS CoV-2 in the past. This test is administered via a blood sample.
