Southwest Airlines Announces New Nonstop Service from Des Moines to Orlando

October 2, 2026

Southwest Airlines is adding another new nonstop destination from Des Moines International Airport (DSM), with service to Orlando International Airport (MCO) beginning in June 2027.

The new Saturday service marks Southwest’s second new destination from DSM in 2027, following the launch of daily nonstop service to Nashville (BNA) in March.

“Orlando is a top 10 destination for travelers from Des Moines so we welcome the additional capacity,” said Brian Mulcahy, CEO of the Des Moines Airport Authority. “We’re excited to see Southwest add this new option for our passengers and look forward to increased flight frequencies once the demand is proven.”

In 2025, an average of 106 passengers traveled each way every day between Central Iowa and Orlando, making MCO DSM’s top market for additional nonstop service.

The addition of Orlando and Nashville comes during an exciting year of growth at DSM, including the opening of the airport’s new terminal in January. The Airport Authority continues to work with its airline partners to pursue additional destinations and increased service for Central Iowa travelers.

Southwest’s new Orlando service will operate Saturdays during its summer schedule. Tickets are available now at Southwest.com.
