DSM EZ-Pickup System
Picking up passengers at DSM just got easier. With construction underway and record number of travelers, Des Moines International Airport has introduced EZ Pickup, a new system designed to reduce congestion at the front curb and improve the pickup experience for Iowans.
Located in the airport's parking garage, EZ Pickup allows drivers to wait in designated stalls for up to two hours free of charge while staying with their vehicle. Once in a stall, drivers simply text their number to their passenger, who then follows signage from the terminal to meet them directly at the stall.
This program is part of DSM's ongoing #FlyingProgress initiative and will remain in place through the opening of the new terminal, ensuring a smoother, safe and more convenient way to reconnect with friends and family.

What is EZ Pickup? |
EZ Pickup is a new system at DSM designed to make picking up arriving passengers easier and more efficient. Drivers can wait in designated stalls inside of the parking garage and wait for up to two hours free, without leaving their vehicle. |
How does EZ Pickup work? |
- Follow the signage to the EZ Pickup area located in the parking garage.
- Park in a numbered stall.
- Text your stall number to your arriving passenger.
- The passenger exits the terminal, follows the signage to the EZ Pickup area, and meets you at your stall.
|
How much does EZ Pickup cost? |
EZ Pickup allows for 2 hours of free waiting in the designated EZ Pickup stalls. If you stay longer than two hours, regular hourly rates ($2 per hour) will apply. |
Where is EZ Pickup located? |
EZ Pickup is located inside the airport's parking garage. Follow the roadway signage directing you to EZ Pickup. Stalls will be clearly marked. |
Can I leave my vehicle parked in EZ Pickup and enter the terminal? |
No. EZ Pickup is intended for drivers who remain with their vehicles while waiting to pick up passengers. If you need to leave your vehicle or enter the terminal, you should park in the standard garage parking areas. |
Is there still a Cell Phone Lot? |
Yes. The Cell Phone Lot is still available and allows drivers to wait off-site for up to 20 minutes at at time, free of charge. Once your passenger is ready for pickup, you may proceed to EZ Pickup or the curb (if your passengers is waiting with bags in hand). |
Can I wait on the front curb? |
No. Due to construction and increased passenger traffic, waiting at the front curb is no longer allowed. Vehicles may only stop at the curb if their passenger is already present and ready to be picked up. Vehicles left unattended or waiting without a passenger at the curb will be ticketed. |
Will this be enforced? |
Yes. Airport staff and security will actively monitor curb activity. Vehicles in violation of curbside rules may receive a citation. Drivers are encouraged to use EZ Pickup or the Cell Phone Lot to avoid fines. |
What if my passenger doesn't have a cell phone? |
If you cannot coordinate via phone or text, you may park your vehicle in the hourly lot and proceed into the terminal to our meeter-greeter area. The first two hours of being parked in the hourly lot are free. |
Why is DSM implementing this new system? |
Passenger traffic at DSM has increased significantly, and ongoing terminal construction has reduced entrance space at the front curb. EZ Pickup was created to provide a safe, efficient, and convenient option for picking up travelers without contributing to congestion. This is another way DSM is making travel easy for passengers, and part of our #FlyingProgress initiative. |
